SCRIPTWORKS

The Creative Arts Co-op has been performing original, murder mystery comedies for several years.  And in that time, we have developed some really funny shows.  Ranging from weddings to pageants to classic whodunnits - there's a script for that.    All of our scripts have been stage tested before a live audience to not only ensure an entertaining show but ease of production.

The Creative Arts Co-op is a working, theatrical production house, and in order to not become its own competition, the Co-op restricts sales of its scripts to outside a 100 mile radius from Harriman, Tennessee.  If you are interested and fall into this category, please review our play summaries.

All of our scripts are designed with an interactive clue hunt built-in, but also include variations to accommodate different space and time options.

All script packages include:   reproducible copy of script
                                                  reproducible copy of clues
                                                  production manual
                                                  royalties for production (1 performance)

Package pricing:   $85.00 for a script package and royalties for 1 performance
                                 $15.00 royalties per subsequent performances
For example:  1 script package with 3 additional performances  = $130.00

Murder mystery theatre houses have a slightly different package price depending on number of performances, etc.

And if you have any questions or would like to preview a script, we are only an e-mail away... And to place an order, just click on the order form link below.

PLAY TITLES and SUMMARIES

All titles include a (unlisted in the character count) host/hostess in the script.  This person can be male or female and is a straight character.  They also oversee the clue hunt, helping audience members stay on track.

'Dearly Beloved, We are Gathered...to Solve a Murder?'                  3M, 3F     (one male is a dead body)

Elise and Jake are finally getting married - completely with a wedding singer and a tyrannical weddinge planner.  But the mother-of-the-bride's not happy about it and Daddy (and his girlfriend) is a no-show.  Not to mention, a cattle accident on the interstate, some unresolved affections, and some other 'unfinished business'.  Do Elise and Jake ever make it down the aisle...alive?

'Can You Really be Photoshopped to Death?'             2M, 4F

'Gumshoe Memoirs'                                    2M, 3F

This throwback 'whodunnit' is classic Phillip Marlowe.  Set in the 1940's, we begin at the murder trial of a mysterious beauty.  It seems like an open and shut case, until the murder victim, Silas Malone,  appears alive and well in the courtroom. Then, flashback to the events leading up to the fateful murder.  Who could it be - the nosy housekeeper, the prosecutor, or maybe the goons lurking in the hallway?  And that brings us back to the courtroom -  where Malone is really killed.  Who killed him this time?

'Courtroom Murders'                                 2M, 3F

'Don't Get Blood on the Popcorn'      1M,3F

The all-female morning talk show 'New and Views' is getting ready to air when the bickering starts again.  Then, the producers announce that the news personalities will conduct an on-air therapy session with a famous therapist - in attempt to quiet rumors of in-fighting and to (hopefully) boost ratings.  During a commercial break, some step out for air...do they all make it back alive.

In 3, 2, ...

'Long Live the Quarterback'                               2M, 3F

'Death By Dessert'                2M, 3F

'Mardi Gras Murders'            2M, 3F

All Sales are Final'         1M, 3F

Louise Franklin and her assistant, Suzanne Goodheart of Franklin and Franklin Real Estate have interrupted a local performance.  The host is informed that she will be bought out and 're-developed'.  The performers strike back as the realtors' shady pasts come to light and skeletons fall out of everyone's closet.  Show performances in this show can either be serious or spoofy.

'Lady Luck Murders'           2M, 3F

The Maloni brothers run the Lady Luck Casino in true old Vegas tradition.  And tonight, they are holding a high rollers event.  As soon as the gaming commission clears the tables for play, the night will begin.  But one of the showgirls never showed up for work and the substitute is not quite what they had in mind.  But at least the singing number is as good as ever - Jerry Maloni, the youngest brother, singing Barbra?  Now, just get the gaming commission out of the building - does he have to be alive when he leaves?

'Dance of Death...or Murder at a Masquerade'      2M, 3F

Harriet Fliggenhuff is hosting her final charity ball benifitting the Tibetan Kangaroo Rat.  She has been replaced after a long, tyrannical reign by the young Sangria Reinholt.  But Harriet won't go down quietly.  This ball is a ball - including an eclectic guest list, a Macarena dance champion, a conga line and a bit of mistaken identities.  This show has the audience out of their seats throughout the show.

'Corporate Killings'          3M, 2F

'Hypnotist for Hire'        2M, 4F

Salvadore Spumoni is about to perform his hypnotist act - until his ex-wife, Chickie, shows up to start trouble with her new 'boyfriend'.  Add in a pushy manager, a new partner, and Sal's 'oldest fan' and there is no telling if this show will ever get started.  Then, the dead body showed up...or did it?!?

  'It's a Murder...at a Mystery'                  2M, 3F

In honor of the game CLUE, this script parodies the game and is a 'show within a show'..  The show begins with the butler introducing all the characters, including a Jamaican psychic, Madame Cocoa Bean.  Then, the 'show' begins.  The group is stranded at the stately manor of Ms. Indigo by a freak snow storm.  Isolated, they try to entertain each other with no success.  When a mysterious gift arrives and the wrong person dies -- everybody breaks loose.  The actors panic and begin plotting against each other in order to survive.  But, the question remains...who killed Ms. Indigo?

'Murder 101'                                  2M, 4F

Famed forensic scientist Dr. Cybil Perch is debuting her book tour at the sight of the crime highlighted in her new book.  But her publicist is dating her daughter, her assistant has anger issues, and her boss is trying to track her down.  What happens when they all end up in the same room?  This is a book lecture like no other - and a hands-on lesson in clue hunting.  When the dust settles, who is left breathing?  Can they find the killer before someone else dies?
